Khalsa College of Pharmacy, Gurusur Sadhar (Ludhiana)
was established in 1984 under the aegis of governing
Council, G.H.G. Khalsa College. Gurusur Sadhar
(Ludhiana), a registered body already running
two premier reputed Higher Education Institutions
(HIE) in rural Punjab. The college is housed in
a magnificent three storeyed building with 42,000
sq. ft. roofed area designed by Sh. H.S. Chopra,
Formerly Additional Chief Architect Punjab. The
foundation of this building was laid by H’
E. Sh V.V Giri, President of India in 1971. This
building was primarily meant to accommodate Post
Graduate Regional Rural Center. However the management
soon felt the better utility of the same to start
job/application oriented courses relevant to the
needs of rural , downtrodden and weaker sections
of society and hence a two year Diploma Course
in Pharmacy was introduced to begin with. A rare
combination of life President Late S. Bakhtawar
Singh Gill, a selfless and devoted social worker
with a deep sense of architectural acumen ship
and mission, and founder Principal S. Manjit Singh
Khattra with a unique commitment and highly distinguished
sense of educational administration and planning,
the project of establishing and running this institution
culminated into a grand success. Dr. Sukhdev Singh,
Formerly Professor & Head, Department of pharmacology,
Govt. Rajindera Medical College and Hospital,
Patiala, contribution his mite as head of the
Department in the academic pursuits and setup
of this institution at its embryonic stage.
Though the expert committee of
AICTE suggested the up gradation of the college
to degree level in 1994, but the, management by
taking its own time in a phased manner to establish,
maintain and run new courses/classes on self financing
and non profitable basis, introduced a four year
Bachelor in Pharmacy degree course w.e.f. 2001-2002
session.
The present
managerial and administrative team headed by Sh.
Manjit Singh Gill, President, Government Council,
is putting in its earnest efforts to achieve the
objectives of the college. The lush green surroundings
with a rich display of its flora, the college
presents a virtual feast to the eyes and synchronizes
with the word of Sh. Prem Bhatia, Formerly Editor-in-chief,
